From Simple Forms to Interactive Designers
As early as 2001, at the beginning of our first website, we used simple forms that became increasingly complex over time.
In 2006, we introduced our first interactive designer, based on Flash, allowing customers to fully design mats independently. Despite its success, we repeatedly encountered technical challenges and misprints, mainly due to the automatic generation of print data, as the print data had very specific requirements for the carpet printing machines.
Additionally, the cumbersome process of handling individual orders required a lot of manual management over time. Alongside the mat designer, we introduced a configurator for custom logo mats in 2008.
In 2011, we started a new project integrated into the Oxid shop system, which went online in 2012 and represented our most complex designer to date.
In the interim, a new catalog system for custom mat designs was used until the new designer was completed. Our new mat designer allowed, from 2012, individual design elements to be color-customized down to the smallest detail, from the shoes of the figures to the hair.
Although the automatic generation of print-ready data was still not perfect, it was much improved, reducing manual interventions.
Due to the increasing complexity and maintenance requirements, we decided to take the mat designer offline again after a few years.
Relaunch of the Mat Designer
With the redesign of our website in 2017, we focused on more detailed request forms. Our experience showed that many industrial customers outsource the design work, a task we have always gladly taken on.
Now, after years of abstaining from interactive online tools, we are motivated to move in this direction again. We present our new mat designer for creating custom dirt-trapping mats.
